Computers and Information Technology (IT)

Use of all technology at CMIS is subject to our Responsible Use for Technology Policy.  All staff and MS/HS students are assigned a CMIS email account through Google. This email account is for school purposes only and subject to our Responsible Use of Technology Policy. CMIS uses Google Apps for Education. Chromebooks computers are issued to all Middle and High School students with a 1,000 baht insurance policy for the purpose of completing school assignments.

Computer, Network, Email and Internet Services

Our school provides computers, networks, email, and Internet access to support and enhance curriculum and learning opportunities.  All staff and students in grades 4 through 12 are given an @cmis.ac.th email address. For staff leaving CMIS, accounts are typically suspended on August 1st following their last day of work at CMIS. For students leaving CMIS, student accounts are withdrawn from student groups and transitioned to @alumni.cmis.ac.th, these accounts will remain active unless otherwise requested (students and staff leaving under exceptional circumstances may have their account suspended immediately).

CMIS retains control, custody, and supervision of all computers, networks, email, and Internet services owned and/or leased by the school, and reserves the right to monitor all email, computer, and Internet activity by students and staff.  Students and staff should have no expectations of privacy in their use of school computers, including email and stored files.

Students in grades 6-12 are issued a Chromebook. These remain the property of CMIS but are to travel with the student and be used for all school work. Student chromebooks are collected at the end of the school year and returned at the beginning of the following year. Students are not permitted to use their personal devices on the school network. Students and parents must review and agree to the following policies:

Parents must also contribute 1000 baht per year (reduced to 500 baht per year, starting from the 2020-21 school year) per device for CMIS mandatory self-funded insurance program. Details of the program may be found clicking this Parents must also contribute 1000 baht per year (reduced to 500 baht per year, starting from the 2020-21 school year) per device for CMIS mandatory self-funded insurance program. Student use of the school’s computers, networks, email, and Internet services is a privilege, not a right and must comply with the following acceptable use policies as well as all rules given by their teacher or other supervisor when using school computers, email, networks, and Internet services.

To access the Internet students are provided with a username and password.  Unacceptable use or activity may result in suspension or cancellation of computer privileges, and may involve other disciplinary actions. Please see the Internet and Email Acceptable Use Policies (IAUP and EAUP).  Also note that these policies cover off-campus Internet/email use when it involves another student, staff member, or the school. That is, students may be held accountable for their actions even when they take place outside school hours and off campus.
