Homework is an independent study of the curriculum at home, and is given to reinforce material that has been taught by the teacher, to help a student develop independent work habits, for test preparation, and to practice skills beyond the time allotted in the classroom. Assigned homework has a valid educational purpose, and is designed to be completed by a student in a reasonable amount of time. Parents are encouraged to monitor student homework to ensure that the time limits are appropriate and understanding is effective.
