Tip #1: The 20, 20, 20 Rule
Every twenty minutes, take a twenty second break and look at something that's about twenty feet away. Why? This relaxes muscles in your eyes and helps prevent digital eye strain.

Hi CMIS family! Allow me to introduce you to the CMIS Student Learner Outcomes. Here at CMIS, we strive to cultivate learners who are Courageous and Responsible Global Citizens. During their journey with us, they grow in exhibiting the Key Attributes of being Flexible, Proactive, Collaborative, Resilient, Creative, Responsible, Kind, Innovative, and Respectful. The Student Learner Outcomes are rooted in CMIS' community-wide, shared vision. ~ To provide educational excellence in a caring Christian community that respects and celebrates diversity.
.
This year, CMIS' leaders and staff are collaborating to have meaningful conversations about the SLOs and how we can weave them throughout the curriculum learning experiences to give our students ample opportunities to develop these essential qualities.
.
Check out these artifacts produced by the staff from our first two sessions where they shared their understandings of the SLOs and imagined what our learners are becoming.

Let's Get Flexible
Hi CMIS family! Remember the Student Learner Outcomes? This month, we will be honing in on the attribute Flexible. We will be taking a deep dive into what this means and exploring ways that we can show it!
This tag cloud represents what teachers think when they hear the word Flexible. What comes to your mind?

Grade 7 Humanities spent the first week examining and analyzing different mentor texts, then emulated the writing styles found in each to write their own poems. This also gave the class a great chance to introduce themselves and their interests to their classmates and their teacher. Here are some examples of their work. - Mr. Cameron

When you need a break, take 5 minutes to calm down using Belly Breathing. Take at least 3 deep belly breaths and watch how your body and mind calms down.
.
1. Find a quiet place to sit or lay down.
2. Close your eyes and think of your happy place.
3. Take a deep breath in, through your nose, pushing your tummy out (as if you have a
big balloon in your tummy).
4. Hold your breath for a few seconds.
5. Then take a deep breath out, through your mouth this time (sucking your tummy back
in).
