CMIS Stories
CMIS features photos and videos in our CMIS Gallery and on our CMIS Social Media Platforms. Below are some recent highlights.
The Counseling Department hosted a talk on Friday given by Supanat Waroonkun, CMIS class of 2020 Alumni, who is studying at the Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University. The aim was to inform students on all aspects of preparing for and applying to med schools in Thailand.
Junior and Senior swimmers are back in the pool making big splashes this season. We have almost 40 students on the junior team and 25 on the senior team! With 2 practices a week, swimmers are practicing water safety, different techniques, and building their stamina to get ready for their first swim meet in a few weeks. Check out these pics from a junior practice last week - even though it was a little bit rainy, that doesn't stop us from having fun!
- Coach Kanako
Ms. Aon, the High School Academic Coordinator, hosted the first Higher Education Talk for HS students and parents. The topic for this session was 'Common App,' which is the most widely used platform for applying to universities. We look forward to having you join the next session on Wednesday, August 31!
G10, G12 and AP Language students spent some time in the Library to sign-out key novels and textbooks for the year. Titles included 'The Language of Composition' and 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.'
- Mr. Sawyer
PTG held their first meeting on August 11. A lot of parents attended the meeting and helped to set the tone for this new year filled with so much potential. We hope more families will join the second meeting on September 15!
The CMIS secondary science team have started working together on a group book project, reading and meeting to discuss the excellent book "Teaching Secondary Science" by Adam Boxer. We're confident that this study will help us think carefully about our instruction and student learning. We're grateful to the school for financing the purchase of a set of books, and look forward to months of collaborative learning that lies ahead!
- Science Department
The Interact club sold samosas last Friday after school. In case you missed it, make sure you get in line faster next time!
