Sculpture is an elective class. During each semester students will be able to create three-dimensional objects with the use of many different materials (up to and including found objects, mixed media, perishable materials, craft materials, ordinary household materials, and traditional sculptural materials.). Students will deal with form, space and structure. The course emphasizes solving problems, incorporating basic additive, subtractive, and manipulative methods. Students will gain knowledge of sculpture through art history, art aesthetics, art criticism, and art production. This will give students a more complete understanding and appreciation for sculpture and the processes that have been used for many years. The goal will be to challenge students into pushing the envelope and gaining skills in work with alternative materials in a unique and creative process.
