Spiritual Life

Our Christian Heritage

Founded on a rich Christian heritage, CMIS warmly welcomes all staff and students of all religious backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs. We encourage students to explore God’s love and the Christian faith so they can form their own personal, thoughtful perspectives. This exploration is supported through all-school Christmas and Easter assemblies, prayer meetings, and weekly faith-based clubs, which are open to anyone in the CMIS community wishing to learn more.

Each academic year, CMIS appoints Thai and international staff members from various departments to serve on the Spiritual Life Committee (SLC). The SLC collaborates with school leadership, staff, students, and parents to organize and facilitate these Christian-related activities.

Christian Activities

Student Groups

Growing in Faith During the School Day

CMIS offers students meaningful ways to engage with their faith during the school day.

Lunch Bible Study

Students gather over lunch to explore God's Word together in a relaxed, welcoming setting.

After-School Bible Club

These groups nurture Christian community and give students a home for their faith at school.

Whole School Assmeblies

CMIS has a longstanding tradition of beginning whole-school assemblies with opening prayer.

We hold two dedicated Christian Assemblies each year:

Christmas Assembly

Celebrating the birth of Christ and the hope He brings.

Easter Assembly

Reflecting on His sacrifice on the cross and the gift of new life.

Worship Service

Seeking God's Blessing as a School Community

All-Staff Worship Service
CMIS opens each school year with a staff worship service, asking God's blessing and guidance for the year ahead.

Local Chruch visit
In late August, staff worship at First Church of Chiang Mai, the church where CMIS's first classes were held — honouring the school's founding legacy.

Rural Local Churches
In the second semester, staff visit and support a small rural church in the region.

Worship Nights

Praising God · Building Community

Throughout the school year, CMIS staff and students come together for after-school Worship Nights.

These evenings are a time to:
Worship God together through music and prayer
Deepen fellowship and community bonds
Encourage and support one another in faith.

Open to all staff and students, these nights reflect CMIS's heart for authentic, Spirit-filled community.

Prayer Groups

A School that Prays Together

Prayer is at the heart of the CMIS community.

Staff Prayer Group

Staff gather weekly to pray for one another and for the school community.

Parent-Teacher Prayer Group

Parents and teachers meet weekly to lift up students, families, and the life of the school in prayer.

We believe prayer makes a difference — in classrooms, in homes, and in hearts.

Prayer Request

We invite anyone to share a prayer request with us. Whatever is on your heart, our community would be honored to pray for you.

All requests are kept in complete confidence.

The Church of Christ in Thailand (CCT)

Chiang Mai International School operates under the Church of Christ in Thailand (CCT), the legally recognized Protestant Christian organization in Thailand.

Rooted in a long Presbyterian tradition, CMIS has held firmly to its Christian faith and values for generations. It is a tradition we are proud to carry forward, with open doors for all who join our community.
