The Journey Begins
Igniting Curiosity through Purposeful Play and Inquiry
Preschool
(Preschool 3 to Preschool 4)
Our Philosophy: A Foundation of Belonging
In the CMIS Preschool, we believe that the earliest years are the most critical for building a lifelong love of learning. Our program is designed to be a "home away from home" — a warm, diverse, and caring Christian environment where our youngest students feel a deep sense of belonging. When children feel safe and valued, they have the confidence to explore, ask big questions, and begin their journey as Courageous Learners.
Purposefully Designed Play
The Creative Curriculum
We believe that for a preschooler, play is work. Our program utilizes the Creative Curriculum, a research-based framework that balances teacher-planned activities with child-initiated discovery.
- Inquiry-Based Learning: We nurture natural curiosity by encouraging children to explore "Studies" and investigations into topics that fascinate them, from the environment to how things work.
- Intentional Environments: Our classrooms are purposefully arranged into interest areas that promote independence, social interaction, and hands-on discovery.

Nurturing The Attributes
Our Preschoolers are introduced to the core attributes that underpin our Schoolwide Learner Outcomes (SLOs). Through stories, play, and daily interactions, we help them begin to show they are:
Kind • Respectful • Collaborative • Resilient • Creative
By focusing on these "ways to show" character, we help children develop the integrity and empathy required to become responsible global citizens from the very start.
A Partnership with Parents
We recognize parents as the first and most important educators. At CMIS, we foster a strong partnership through open communication, regular updates via the Teaching Strategies app, and a shared commitment to a growth mindset. Together, we ensure every child is supported, challenged, and loved as they take their first steps into the world of education.
