Air Quality
Air pollution is a concern throughout Thailand, but during the burning season (usually February to April), air quality in Chiang Mai can become particularly poor due to limited wind to clear the smoke.
During this time, the Health Office and Athletic Department closely monitor air quality throughout the day by checking the Air Quality Index (AQI). This helps us make informed decisions about activity restrictions at school.
CMIS Air Quality Standards and Activity Level Guidelines are aligned with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards. The full policy is available on the Health Office page.
Air Quality Status
The CMIS Health Office monitors air quality daily and takes prompt action to help ensure the safety of everyone on campus. Students, staff, and families are informed through multiple communication channels, including the on-site flag system, email, group chats, and social media. This ensures timely updates and reflects CMIS’s strong commitment to addressing air quality concerns.
