Elementary School
(Kindergarten to Grade 5)
A Nurturing Academic Environment
In the CMIS Elementary School, we transition students into a structured academic journey while ensuring the Four Pillars of Learning remain at the center of every classroom. We believe a strong, diverse community is the best place for a child to take the risks necessary for deep learning. Here, students begin to see themselves as Courageous Learners — thinkers who are open-minded, creative, and willing to embrace "productive struggle."
A Rigorous, Standards-Based Curriculum
Our program is built on globally recognized standards to ensure academic rigor and portability:
Holistic Development: Safety and Well-being
We are committed to nurturing the whole child. Our curriculum intentionally includes Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Digital Citizenship, and Child Protection.
The 9 Attributes in Action
- Collaborative and Flexible: Investing in teamwork and bridging perspectives.
- Creative and Innovative: Celebrating risk-taking and original problem-solving.
- Resilient: Learning to "press forward" and view mistakes as opportunities.
- Respectful, Kind, Proactive, and Responsible: Cultivating the integrity required of Responsible Global Citizens.
Assessment: Evidence of Growth
- Formative Feedback: We use Google Classroom as our primary digital hub. This allows for a real-time feedback loop between teachers and students, ensuring that "next steps" in learning are identified immediately.
- Standards-Aligned Reporting: Through PowerSchool, we provide transparency into how students are meeting specific grade-level outcomes, ensuring that grades represent academic understanding rather than behavior.
- External Benchmarks: We utilize MAP Growth assessments to track individual academic progress against international benchmarks, allowing us to differentiate instruction for every learner.
Partners in Growth
We maintain a transparent dialogue with families through regular conferences and digital platforms. We ask parents to join us in communicating a growth mindset, encouraging students to take ownership of their learning journey and celebrate their personal goals.
