2022 Rod Nam Dum Hua
"Rod Nam Dum Hua” Ceremony was held on Thursday, April 28, 2022. The ceremony was presented by the fifth graders to pay respect to our elders. Rod Nam Dum Hua is an important tradition in the Songkran Festival and means a water-pouring ceremony to ask forgiveness and blessings from a respected elder.

4B visited Kru Dang to learn about Songkran
4B visited Kru Dang to learn about Songkran, an important Thai festival. On the final day of Songkran, people take part in an activity called Rot Nam Dam Hua. Students found out what ingredients go into the special water that is used in this activity before having some photos taken with traditional umbrellas and flags.

Congratulations to our numerous CMIS badminton athletes (U12, U14, U16. & U20) after competing in our annual CMAC tournament last Saturday. Several participants finished on the podium ranging from 1st-3rd with many surprising themselves throughout the tournament. Grade 2 is investigating insects and plants.
Grade 2 is investigating insects and plants. Today we ventured outside to plant brassica seeds and talked about what the plant needs to grow. Students will take care of their plant and make observations over the coming weeks on how their plant grows.

grade 4 Mango sticky rice
The Grade 4 Thai Novice class learned about the classic Thai dessert known as khao nieow ma muang (Mango sticky rice), which is a common street food in Thailand. It is usually eaten during the peak mango season of April and May. The recipe is easy to make at home too!

Biology class
This past Friday, Mr. Melby's Biology class visited the nearby Doi Suthep-Pui National Park to learn about human impacts on the natural environment. During their visit to Huay Kaew Waterfall, they removed trash, identified invasive species, and thought of possible ways to preserve natural environments that are within close proximity to urban development. At the second site, Montha Than Waterfall, students observed a more pristine and untouched habitat, which they used as a baseline to compare to other sites. After a rigorous walk, students enjoyed the refreshing waterfall.

Donate
Grade One was blessed to receive some generous donations from a current CMIS parent and retired grade one teacher. Thank you again to Mrs. Roulston for passing on so many wonderful resources and books for our classroom libraries!
