Grade 9 PE/Health students will acquire a broad range of fundamental skills and knowledge related to movement, sport, and fitness. Students will experience a variety of activities organized in two week units to develop skill, game-play strategies, and teamwork. Activities such as football, basketball, volleyball, softball, kickball, spikeball, handball, ultimate frisbee, floor hockey, kinball badminton, pickleball, table tennis, archery, and darts may be included. Fitness activities and testing will be conducted throughout the year. Health topics include body systems, nutrition, conflict resolution and relationships, disease prevention, substance use and abuse, and human growth and development (sexual education). Formative and summative assessments will be included periodically throughout the year.
