CMISThe purpose of Grade 8 English is to help students develop important skills in the domains of reading, writing, listening, and speaking that will make them confident and effective communicators. In addition, they will learn and hone knowledge of various language elements that will further their understanding of and fluency in English. Through reading a combination of both fiction and non-fiction texts, students will engage in critical thinking and analytical skills that are required for success as they move into high school. Students will also be challenged to communicate their ideas through a variety of spoken and written forms and with multiple purposes and audiences in mind. This course is aligned with the Common Core State Standards for 8th grade and uses the My Perspectives curriculum.
