Course Description

Geometry is the second in a series of specific-focus math classes experienced at the high school level; it is a compulsory course designed to help students develop the math skills necessary for high school graduation and college entry. Geometry focuses on helping students develop logical thinking patterns and become aware of the geometrical patterns in their environment. Built on the Common Core Standards for Mathematics, Geometry encompasses the following content and skill foci: Congruence; Similarity, Right Triangles, and Trigonometry; Circles; Expressing Geometric Properties with Equations; Geometry Measurement and Dimension; Modeling with Geometry; Conditional Probability and the Rules of Probability; and Using Probability to Make Decisions. Lessons are crafted to develop a deep understanding of math concepts, as well as sharpen students' skill in the "doing" of math. The CMIS Philosophy of Math will shape the learning experience.
