In January 2010, we will begin accepting applications for Kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 2 for the Academic Year beginning in August. We will begin accepting applications for Grades 3 through 12 in February. The 2010-2011 application form is now available via e-mail or may be downloaded from this website. Chiang Mai International School (CMIS) was established to provide high quality, American-based education to the ex-pat community living in Chiang Mai; particularly the American Missionary, Diplomatic, and NGO communities. True to our history and the traditions of our founders, we offer priority acceptance to applicants who fall into specific social and professional categories.
Our Priority Categories are 1) Diplomatic / Consular Families, 2) Missionary Families, 3) NGO / Non-profit organization families, 4) former CMIS families who are returning from abroad, and 5) siblings of current CMIS students. All other applicants are considered on a space-available basis.
We are currently operating at almost maximum capacity and are unable to predict what spaces will be available in Grades 3 through 12 next year. In January, we will ask our current students if they will be returning for the next academic year. For those who indicate that they will not return, we will make their spaces available to new applicants. With the exceptions of KG and Grades 1 and 2, we cannot consider any applications unless we know that one of our current students is leaving.
If spaces are still available after we have considered our priority applicants, we will consider applications from those who do not fall into our priority categories on the basis of their academic credentials, personal profiles, and entrance assessment results, beginning in February 2010.
