During Senior Seminar class, students learned the life skill of having a college or job interview. They learned more about the process and some of the psychology that goes into it. To finish up the unit, members of the CMIS community came to campus and gave each student a 15 - 20 minute mock interview!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....at CMIS!

This morning we took our science journals outside to notice what sort of birds we saw on campus. Students found lots of birds and drew and wrote about them. Some students noticed birds way high in the sky while laying on their backs.

Practice with cold reading and audition prep - Theatre Production & Performance.
This activity is designed to get students used to working with new, unknown material. Much of the professional acting world revolves around one's ability to read, process, and recite new material quickly and with flourish. A successful actor can do this day in, day out, and keep their performances fresh and interesting. Their jobs depend on it! Today's scenes are from the Humphrey Bogart/Ingrid Bergman classic, Casablanca (yes, sadly, this one is unfamiliar to most of our students). Pictured are Rick and Ilsa, and Rick and Laszlo respectively. Here's looking at you, kid!

On Tuesday afternoon, grade 6B visited the KGA classroom.
Although there were 23 grade 6 students and only 15 KGA students, the KGA students thoroughly enjoyed sharing their reading and listening skills with other learners and certainly benefited from having older scholars read to them and demonstrate their skills. The KGA students were blessed
also to be able to share their prowess and be given direction by their more accomplished peers.

4B discovered how good it feels to give and receive a sincere compliment. After a discussion about what it means to give a "real compliment," students then put this into practice by writing compliments for each other. Finally, students gave each other verbal compliments; practicing eye contact, using kind voices and learning to say thank you when a compliment is received.
