CMIS Stories

CMIS features photos and videos in our CMIS Gallery and on our CMIS Social Media Platforms.  Below are some recent highlights.

Recommendations from the WHO to remind ourselves to keep doing our part in protecting those around us.
Last year several alumni came and shared their "life after CMIS" experience with our seniors in the Senior Seminar class. Due to our campus visitation restrictions at this time, we had to get creative and decided to hold these sharing sessions virtually instead. This week, we successfully held our first "Alumni & Seniors virtual meeting" on Monday August 24th.
Katherine Morse (Class of 2013) chatted with the Senior Seminar class about her time at CMIS and her university experience in the US.
Thank you Katherine for spending some time with our seniors!
- Mr. Rob Johnson
This term, Grade 8 Humanities students are studying European Geography, Trade, Economics, and Environmental Issues and will be reading the acclaimed book A House on Mango Street as they learn about important milestones in the Rites of Passage module.
- Mr. Jeremy Freeman
As part of the Second Step curriculum, 4B got creative when thinking about empathy. The question was posed "how would you feel in their shoes?" Or more specifically, "how would you feel in their hooves?" We looked at feeling empathy for animals too! Check out Cally the Cow who came into the class. How would you feel if you were a cow?!
4B put themselves in many different people and creature's shoes and created an empathy chain showing the unity of their thoughts.
Ms. Nikita Morton

Grade 5 uses their whiteboards in math to share math concepts while distancing. Students draw methods and write answers to communicate ideas with partners. Then they hold up their boards to share with the whole class.
- Mrs. Jessica Ridgley
During the first weeks of school we are working on routines. Distancing is becoming part of our new normal. In library class the students are encouraged to sit on the "frog" as they listen to a story. This helps support distancing. Our library lessons during the first few weeks focuses on how to take care of our books.
- Ms. Psaira
